Who to send off?

if you have a player manager named as a substitute and he is being abbusive from the bench, do you send him off as a named sub or ask him to leave the technical area as a manager.

If you send him off as a player then of course he can not be on the bench but can he remain in a manager capacity?

As far as I'm aware you red card him as a named player

In terms of whether he can stay in the technical area, I believe he has to leave the vicinity the same as any other player

If they are named as a sub it makes your life much easier.....just dismiss as you would a player.

And no, they can't remain in the technical area.

If you red card him as a sub, then he has to leave the FOP. He doesn't get to remain as a manager, because that would be in breach of the requirement that he leave the vicinity of the FOP.
If you simply send him away as a manager? Well, there's a debate as to whether he should still be allowed to 'play' as a sub.....but if you can deal with him as a player, why wouldn't you? Sending him off as a manager means you report the incident but there's no particular requirement for the FA to deal with it in any particular way. Show the card and he has to be dealt with like any other player. If you have the option to deal with him as a sub, deal with him as a sub. Makes life much easier, simpler and clearer.
