This is the sort of tackle where you’ve just got to make a judgement call. His immediate reaction was a yellow and he’s not seen anything to completely change his opinion. He was in a decent position to see the tackle in the first place and so it’s nice to see a ref stick with their on-field decision after going to the monitor. Another ref could’ve easily backed a red, but the ref is happy with his decision here and that is all that matters.

For what it’s worth I think he just about made the right decision with a yellow. From the limited footage it’s hard to make any sort of decision on that - I hope he got more than just that single image to look at.

Hmm, that's one of those with absolutely no intent to play the ball, he is just kicking the opponent. Certainly enough for SFP, but probably not enough for a clear and obvious review, so can see why the referee stuck with his decision.
