Hi everyone. With the new season coming up, I wanted to check I have all the important referee clothing. I have all the match kit, but what training wear should I purchase? There are many items on RefStop in the 24-25 Training section and I don’t want to buy things for the sake of it. I think I should buy one of the two mid layers/track jacket, but which one, and do I get initials and county FA badge? Fairly new to all this. Thanks!

It's entirely up to you what you get.

When you are working solo it doesn't really matter, but looking smart helps you look professional and creates a good impression on arrival. That said, you don't want to overdo it.

When you are working as a team, it does look good when you are coordinated but in reality this is almost impossible to achieve unless everyone agrees to all get the same things.

My suggestion above the 'kit'. I'd go for tracksuit trousers, mid layer/top for warmup and spring/summer and perhaps an extra layer for those more inclement days. I'd also suggest a nose around on ebay where you can get sone cheap stuff. You don't have to have any logos if you want a cheaper option.

Not many refs get initials. Badges on training wear are not necessary but many refs will have a badge so if you want one I would suggest adding your County FA badge.

Just get what you want and need. Training wear all well and good, but what are you training for? Warm-up tee shirt? Just grab what you need. Turning up to a game, stick a long sleeve tracksuit top on. What are the players at the level you’re officiating at wearing when they turn up? Match that.

I thought it was just me but my friend also said the same thing that the 24-25 training wear track bottoms are awful material. Not the same material as the track top. Wasn't until I went into Sports Direct and found the same bottoms but of the same material as the track top.

The track top's not great either imho. Some of the thread was alerady falling out before I had even put it on. The t-shirts/tops are alright though.
