I think the referee should have given a free kick for the foul on Jagielka.
I think he was right to award the penalty against Rose though.
One other thing I noticed (but he only seemed to do it during the first 30 or so minutes) was that he gave an exceptionally long blast of his whistle for any free kick - the sort you'd normally reserve to indicate the severity of an offence like a penalty or a yellow/red/card. I was really surprised at it and even more puzzled when he appeared to have abandoned this habit by the half time interval.
