I've only been refereeing since November but I am sick and tired of using a count up watch as I have to focus more on how many minutes left than the actual game (got used to telling players 'not long' instead of the amount of minutes)

I never tell the players how long there is left, I tell them how long we have played. "we've played for 30 minutes". In overtime I will tell them how long we are into overtime, and the amount of _minimum_ added, with emphasis on minimum.
