I genuinely thought it was a wind up... But, the referee on the post that I got this from replied "at least I kept dry"

Personally, it concerns me from a safety point of view.. But, at least he kept dry

I refereed a match Saturday, got absolutely soaked. Done a match today and was sweating in the bright sun.....phew!

I have double checked the LOTG and i can't see anywhere that says the referee cannot use a brolly so bravo i say. I am going to nip to sports direct later and get myself one ready for next week!!!

I've often joked about using an umbrella but I never would of course, it is so dangerous to the players, hope they could see his hand signals. What about his peripheral vision?

I would be really careful don't worry, as long as no players come into the centre circle they would be safe!
