So many questions on this as someone who is soon to embark on the world of refereeing, please be nice!
  • Is it common for a referee to put on a bib due to a clash with the players? My understanding is that referees at amateur and even semi-pro level are only allowed to wear black, as a result, clubs are not allowed to wear black kits?

  • Has anyone ever reffed SE Dons (or similar teams)? Seems to be a logistical nightmare and not sure it is worth the £30?

  • Why is so much encroachment by 'club officials' and fans allowed? Regardless, it seems impossible for an individual ref or assistant to manage, but would take a brave person to abandon.

  • Someone else asked, by why is the keeper still on the sideline?

    These videos seem to incriminate the team, as opposed to showcase them, far too many idiots on and off the pitch. There is a common view that young players impersonate their professional idols in play acting and abusing referees, i'd argue these types of teams and videos are far more dangerous for impressionable youngsters and even those not so young.

Choose your battles. And common sense.

As other posters have said. It’s out of control. But I can totally understand this referee just getting through the match.
 
It's a bit worrying that especially as it was London Cup game, that Respect Barriers aren't mandated or if they are, then I assume SE Dons will be fined accordingly!!

I haven't, but I've reffed their wannabe teams in South London. They're god awful, just reacting to every little thing for content mostly. It's usually harmless but amongst the attention seekers are some real unsavoury characters, once got struck in the face with a flag by a CAR from one of these clubs.

Plus side is London sunday league pays better (£50 in mine) and I imagine their Youtube Super League pays even better.

I reffed and lined SE Dons about 5 times before they changed league, a few times pre-COVID but mostly after, they weren't actually too much of an issue on the pitch as the Orpington and Bromley league tended to have a lot of players in the top division who played together or against each other on Saturdays at Step 4/5/6 so they were generally half decent football games, even the "rivalries".

Back then our league were pretty hot on their behaviour on the sidelines and I know that our panel were quick to deal with sideline issues and there were a few refs who would happily follow through on threats to abandon so they tended to behave when those threats came out. The sidelines were far worse than the onfield teams though and I think have got worse in the years post-COVID and their league changes though we did have one referee assault from the entourage coming on the pitch. It is hard to deal with because you are completely unprotected unlike any sort of Saturday football.
 
Anyone mentioning a drone being flown above the pitch too?
Isn't that against regulations?
You see professional games stopped for drones too.
 
Watching grown men behave this way for YouTube clicks is just really depressing. Such pathetic behaviour, how did we end up with so many adults who are unable to engage in basic emotional regulation?

Luckily they've filmed it all so plenty of evidence for the county FA to ban these Muppets.
 
As they're acting like children, perhaps teams like this should be told they have to respect barriers, so keep them away from the touchline ?

So this question may be covered by the golden advice above but;

Who is letting the number 7 wear a snood (despite it being on his head as all the pampered pros seem to be doing these days)?

Pretty sure these were outlawed by the FA a long time ago, regardless of it being round the neck or on the head.

I was think that. So dangerous if it drops over his eyes
