    you can't shout leave it

I do exactly what @Darius does - one time I actually give them my copy of the rule book and told them to find it.

    Junior/Youth "Just hit him back!!"

I suppose it depends where you're from - you obviously get more support from managers where you live... In my legues the managers tend to be just Chavy young lads or old men who think they're in the premier legue

    Junior/Youth "Just hit him back!!"

In my experience of noisy spectators 9/10 in the past when I've asked the manager to sort it - he hasn't really and I've had to get to the point of threatening to abandon... On the other hand when I've warned the antagonist to their face - they, more often than not, get the point. And...

    Junior/Youth "Just hit him back!!"

SM is probably right but I must admit I prefer to warn them to their faces because the managers tend to not want to upset a Parent of one of their players... Regardless, you did the right thing nipping it in the bud

    Player kissing marking opponent

@Brian Hamilton I wouldn't just go up to a woman on the side line and say she's a milf ! I might on a Friday night after 10 pints - if anything I try to have little or nothing to do with spectators whether they be male or female... I made the point to the lad that about not being able to go...

    Player kissing marking opponent

it was hardly sexist ? I didn't imply women were incapable of doing a certain task because they're women or degrade them... I simply said that some of the mams who watch thier kids are rather attractive - granted; I did say "milf" but where I'm from its quite the compliment haha

    Player kissing marking opponent

I'm with @CapnBloodbeard I couldn't sell a kiss as a red - caution at most. But if the game was good natured and player on the receiving end of said kiss took it as a joke then it would be a warning. I had two players on opposing teams who knew each other and one kept grabbing the other ones...

    Junior/Youth Racist Comment by player

It's the same if I child came up to you as a coach/referee and said that, for example, he didn't wana go home with his stepdad because he abused him... You have to take that seriously regardless of the kids reputation for telling lies or maybe he's the boy who cried wolf. You have to report it...

    Our throw ref!

I had one lad who miss kicked a ball and it went for a corner only for him to start saying "Goal kick ref"!!! There wasn't one player within 10 yards of him... I thought he was joking so I laughed then when he asked what I was laughing at I realised, unfortunately, he was being serious ! Untill...

    Being recorded

I would say basically that x player from x team was trying to undermine my authority by recording me on his mobile phone. I didn't want to be recorded nor did I want to anyone else there thinking I was toothless by letting him do it. Therefore I warned him once to stop, he didn't. Got the...

    Being recorded

If that was the case and all the spectators began doing it then i would simply abandon it. I'm also aware that the recording, even though he asked, could have been used against me - but it was a u9's game so I felt pretty secure.

    Being recorded

Yes fair enough if they come over to you before the game (which has actually happened to me before) and said we're recording the game for training purposes and the away team are okay with it; then no problem. But in the scenario above were by a player is doing it out of malice in his phone then...

    Being recorded

I agree, I wouldn't like to be recorded... Of course you accept it at bigger levels of football but at park level - not at all. I would tell him to stop, should he refuse, get the manager involved, if there's still no progress get rid of him and send a report to the FA. If the FA say there's...

    Funny one yesterday...

I was reffing an under 14's cup game yesterday. The home team were two divisions above away and it certainly showed - the score was 5-0 after 20 mins. It was a quiet game with not much to give and most decisions were going for the away team. Then the ball went out for a throw in to home - que...

    I was assaulted today...

Well that's what I would do personally, purely because I wouldn't want another, younger, less experienced referee to go through that. Being assaulted wouldn't make me discourage potential referees - toothless FAs will. I'm quite lucky because my FA would give at least half a season ban for a...

    I was assaulted today...

I would do those games - then tell your FA that you're rapping in for a while and tell them exactly why and also tell them that you'll be discouraging other potential referees because the lack of support they get is disgusting and use yourself as an example !

    Being called Racist

No, @jofusref - it would be a red all day long if I was called a cheat. I was saying that if a player/manager called me a cheat it wouldn't bother me personally A. Because I know I'm not and B. it wouldn't hurt my reputation after that game and in my personal life and my career... Being called a...

    Being called Racist

Totally agree ^ - I also think players who make stupid comments like that should have the book thrown at them. It's one thing to say you're a cheat - anyone can say that and it's water off a ducks back... But, especially these days, where eveyone is terrified of upsetting anyone and all the self...

I thought i had heard it all.....till today

Did anyone read that thing on sky sports where the rugby league referee said he would like to try his hand at football reffing... I would LOOOOOVE to see that ! They'd be five a side by half time - But it should happen !

    Different types of assessors

I don't see what @Brian Hamilton has done wrong here ?! He went to the game, assessed the referees - noticed one significant mistake by the AR and then the referee from the follow up - informed the AR and referee of thier mistake in a positive way. Pretty good assessing if you ask me. I would...
