    Violent Conduct

You are correct in what you have done.... From a learning point of view, I would not have expected you to have asked him to leave. Once he has left the field of play, his conduct becomes that of the club. So from a preferred approach, when you stopped the game, you should have gone to his club...

    Arsenal v Brentford

I think it is one where both YC and RC could be given. A lot will depend on viewing angles. I think VAR was right to leave alone, but if the Referee had given a RC, it would have stayed as correct. Personally, I think is was sufficiently high and late to be endangering the safety of the...

    Tips for Promotion

Fitness is a key criteria for operating at higher levels. Football at L4 and above has never been quicker than it is now, so you should try to be the fittest person on the pitch. Other things can be thought to you, but you have to do the fitness training yourself.

Pre Match Level 4 and Above

I was always of the belief that AR2 should record the goals. Reasoning - AR1 normally more experienced, so more aware of potential misconduct and can see the TA's, as that is where it could come from. If they record the game, they will have their head in the book at a potential KMI. If you go...

    how to work as ar

@CaptainsPlease Since the East Riding gave up it's supply league status around 5 years ago, the lowest level of football with assistants in Hull is the NCEL div 1. @cancan You should talk to your RDO to see if they can get you nominated to the AR list. Normally it will be people on the...

    Referee Injury

In this situation, if you felt that the assistants couldn't take over and there was nobody willing to step up, you would have to abandon. It would be left to the league to resolve, as they appointed unsuitable assistants to the match (as they didn't have the experience to referee). If you are...

    Start Watch/Whistle or Whistle/Start Watch.

Always start the watches first and check they are running before you blow. I have seen referees all fingers and thumbs in the first few seconds trying to start watches and distracted in checking they are running. Everton scored after 10 seconds yesterday, so if you were pratting around with...

Manager bawling out their own player

The Club will have a Club Welfare Officer, as the team is U18. After the match, they should be your first point of contact is you have concerns about the attitude of the manager. Your CFA will be able to provide their contact details, if not listed in the league handbook/on the website.

Need a 5-4 fitness test before 31st Dec

Doubtful there will be any fitness test done at this time of the year. Too cold and wet for people to stand around while you do he run. Probably won't be any until april next season. Sorry.

    Dissent after the final whistle

The very definition of post-match abuse. You need to report as a misconduct report to the CFA and to the league for improper conduct by a team official. He will learn quickly not to open his mouth, if he doesn't like your performance

Open Age no name sin bin / red card

Remember, the club will get an extra fine for the player not giving his name. But, the better one, I have seen it where they did this with a "ringer" and gave the wrong name. He then tried playing a few days later for another team and it was found out he was "suspended"... A whole world of pain...

“Are you going to put the card through ref”

@DeanoMT10 Yes, put though, as it will be worse for you if you don't. Was they asking you or yelling at you not to put though? If they were being aggressive is telling you not to send in, I would be tempted to let the CFA know. They may have done this to other referees - who may have not sent...

    Frustrating news regarding promotion

Especially as the marking is based on you being a L4, so the expectation is you are already good enough. Just giving a standard L5 performance will mean that you don't get promotion, you have to show you are better than the quality of the football you are refereeing. You have to be the best...

    What did he get right……

Just about everything.... Restart cannot be a goalkeeper fly-kicking the ball back into play. It has to be either a free-kick to the defenders for the Purple forward's first offence or a penalty for the goalkeeper challenge. Never blew for the purple challenge, so must have decided no...

verbally distracting and opponent in the box.

But when did David Elleray apply law correct? Has anybody watched in referee in old matches- The law according to Mr Elleray, was what was applied ;)

    Constant appealing

One of the ways to deal with the "foul throw" applies is - "This is not kids' football, so play on. I will decide whether it is not legal".

    Dissent/comments towards CARs

This should have been a RED. The use of "cheat" and "disgrace" are trigger words. Also given this was a U12's match, the coaches are expected to set any example. He should be in the Car Park.... The other argument is that you didn't take action, so he thinks it OK. So, may do the same next week...

    Junior/Youth Sleep on it.

I bet he had a number of those reports, just changed the name of the referee and clubs.... I think in those days observers only got a mileage allowance, so a 10 mile trip may get £2 for the report. So, you get what you pay for.
