Also SCOR (Y) rules state that a under 14 must not participate as a referee or assistant in any match.

    U8's non competitive

As others have said, it is simply the coaching team don't want to do it and nobody else has volunteered. As with every now in life, "I don't want to do it, so I will pay some else to do it". The club has more money than volunteers!

Any advice on the best league to sign up for

Remember, if you are going to referee in Wales, you will need international clearance from the FA. Wales is a separate country for football purposes.

Dutch FA consider abandoning offsides at grassroots football

Guardian article re ceasing offsides With the number of problems it causes, at least they are thinking about doing something. FIFA won't allow, but would you be happy to stop offsides at Step 7 and below, all Sunday football and all junior football?

    NEW V TOT

I think some of the referees actually do some line work at the PGMOL training sessions, as well as the assistants, so they are not totally cold. But it will have been a few years since he did 45 mins. There was the FA cup match where the referee and 4O both went down, as a specialist AR had to...

    5-4 mark 2024-25 season.

Yes, it was confirmed on an observer update meeting last week. There are still a few eligible candidates, but no new candidates for 24/25 onwards

Open Age first game "proper" back

@Kent Ref - I trust you are reporting the team for the Nazi signal. The FA will take this is similar to a racist complaint, and I expect the injured player won't be playing for some time (and be a few pounds poorer)

    5-4 mark 2024-25 season.

Getting the average DOESN'T mean you get promoted, only nominated. To go 5-4 on the annual system, your mark will need to be well above the minimum, I think the 70/71 problem is irrelevant

Goalkeeper picking the ball up (again)?

Interesting one at an Open Age match I was observing, and how not been able to find the answer.... Goalkeeper picks up the ball and runs towards the edge of his penalty to release. He stumbles and drops the ball. It took one bounce and he regather it. Referee allows play to continue. It was...

    5-4 mark 2024-25 season.

They have set the minimum acceptable average at 71.0 nationally. All standards at 5-4 are being set by the FA. The administration and appointments will be done by CFAs, but reports will be reviewed by National FA.

    Level 7 promotion

FA rules for 7-6 promotion It is just 25 11-a-side Open Age matches, so not gender specific. That FA document could be out of date, as CFA are says 25 matches It is, I think, only if you want to follow the Women's pathway that your matches have to be Women's Reginal and County matches.

    2nd Assessment / Observation

As observers, we can normally spot when somebody is refereeing for us. They don't look natural in what they do and are always going to talk what they did during the match to impress us.

To say or not to say...

I would if you are still in your 5 game probation period. It sets an expectation for them, and as others have said, it may give them ammunition; I think it can help you. Once they realise you are just starting out, the more sane players will help you control the worst players. It will also...

    Manager caution

    Manager caution

From an observer's point of view and the "safe refereeing" view point, I would not advise you to stop play to issue a caution. Wait until the next stoppage and deal with. Easier game management, as the players will understand more. If you were to stop play, As an observer I would be expecting...

    Penalty Positioning in OA games.

I think you are a little too far away from the goal, being 2 yards within the penalty area. While 2 yards off the line is reasonable, I would expect you to be mid-way between the goal are and penalty area lines (say 10 yards from the nearest post) for better viewing. The encroachment, when on...
