    Junior/Youth "Just hit him back!!"

Had an incident in my U14s game this afternoon. White striker runs through and is dispossessed. No appeals for a foul but one parent (presumably his dad) asks for a foul and tells me to watch the hand as his son just got hit in the face. I ignored him and then he said to the player "Go on, hit...

    Players Favourite Sayings #2

Is that tournament quite lenient on punishments then. One of my local teams runs a 5-a-side tournament in the summer and if a player gets booked, they miss the next game. If they get sent off, they miss the res of the tournament. I sent one player off after 7 minutes in the first game for a real...

    Sunderland vs Newcastle United

It is a yellow because it was a tactical foul. Bobby Madley sent him off for DOGSO, which was incorrect as it looked like the keeper was going to get there first. Hence not an obvious goal scoring opportunity and therefore not a red card

    Players Favourite Sayings #2

I had one last weekend. U14s game between Whites and Pinks. White team attacker pushes the keeper away from the ball and I blow for a FK to the goalkeeper. Whites attacker says that can't be a foul as he was just challenging for the ball. I said to him that he wasn't even looking at the ball, he...

    Referee in a bib

I have always been told not to play until the kit is sorted. If the kit can not be corrected, postpone and report it to County. I agree that we should use common sense. When I had a similar situation, no one wore bibs. I was a good couple of feet taller than the players so I was...

    Referee in a bib

Every assesor, mentor and referee coach I have ever met, has always stressed that under no circumstances should the referee be forced to change kit. The only time we do is the Football League and above. We even got told that when I took my course. Most, if not all, leagues below the FL require...

    Referee in a bib

Rules are rules mate. I don't make them but I stick to them

    Referee in a bib

Make the team put the bibs on. The referee should never have to change just to suit players. At youth level, the rules state that the referee must be in all black

    Familiarity breeds contempt.......

A lot of managers that I have refereed prefer the referee to talk to them before the game as it shows them that you are an enthusiastic referee and a confident one. I also find that they show me more respect if I have a chat before the game. It shows that we are humans, not robots

Junior/Youth Ref! He's one of them linos!

U14. Bibs vs Reds. First few minutes, bibs player runs through and gets flagged offside. It probably was, so I agreed and blew for an IDFK. Bibs assistant manager says "Oh great, he is one of them linos". TBH, he was pretty crap. I had to overall him 4 time because he was incorrect in law...

    Hector Moreno tackle

I think it was Moreno's foot that hit his ankle directly, most probably with studs

    Hector Moreno tackle

I just read an article where Pierluigi Collina says that Moreno should have been punished as he believes that despite winning the ball, he endangered the safety of Luke Shaw

"OFFINABUS" or "delay that taxi" ...?

100 percent red card for OFFINABUS. That is a racial slur that has absolutely no place on a football pitch. So what if they are friends, it is still racist

Junior/Youth Got given a ringer yesterday

I put it in manually, but then decided to double check with the League about it as I had a slight suspicion as he was complaining like mad that he was getting a caution. He then said his name relatively calmly which was a very sudden change in the tone of his voice

Junior/Youth Got given a ringer yesterday

He told me to do it because it is a league matter that they will resolve.

Junior/Youth Got given a ringer yesterday

I did enter it manually but the League registration sec told me to send him a report anyway

Junior/Youth Got given a ringer yesterday

I had an U17 match yesterday and when I called a player over to caution him for AA, he told me his name was "Mike Branston". When I went to put this on the Whole Game System, the name wasn't on the drop down list of players for his team. I checked with the league's U17s Registration Secretary...

    Ipswich penalty versus Birmingham City

So are you saying that if no one appeals for a pen, it isn't one?

Can I Shoot From The Kick Off Ref?

As a Chelmsford fan, I hate this clip!! It was after our second goal, not half time. It isn't even the kick off, the other player rolled the ball to him before he shot

Open Age "He made a meal of it ref, you should disregard the foul!"

Had that in my first adult middle today. Red player caught the blue attacker who goes down easily. I gave the pen and they claimed that I should ignore the blatant foul because he went down easy. Thoughts?
