    Player grabbing referee

No, your right about Coppinger! I don't agree with that but isn't the ref within rights to step in and caution Keeper for what he did with Mandeville? If he acts on that then players wouldn't take into own hands? Easy to say I know! I'm just curious from a refs perspective.

    Player grabbing referee

No, but that ref didn't do anything ti McCormick and it cost Coppinger a Red. Apologies my Rovers feelings have me going against grain and picking fault at ref there ;-)

    1st caution

Cheers Moosey, I had a look on Full-time and not the first time a player for them has been carded. One was sent off a few weeks ago! The manager was F'in and blinding all way through half time team talk so hardly surprising his players were like that. Today is another game. Get through this...

    1st caution

Super. I was expecting to have to write it up, word for word, but it won't allow me to, I assume this is right?

    1st caution

Thanks Graeme, I've done about 8 where I you would use cards at that age. Although only 3 league games. The rest have been Mini Soccer. So I'm learning alot all the time. I think I could have cautioned earlier on reflection and probably too lenient for too long. Others won't get the same...

    1st caution

Thanks Brian. I would say that kept up with play well and on top. Could it be better? Possibly, but I wasn't 40 yards away! What I meant was the breaks with a long ball up front :-) Im just feeling it this afternoon :-)

    1st caution

Thanks Padfoot, How do you pick yourself up after a worse game than that? The ankle injury isn't impairing my ability to get around the field, granted these lads were fit today and that proved challenging at times, especially when on a break and it comes to watching the game, keeping up with...

    1st caution

Well what a game this morning... 1st time doing and U14s which saw mid table vs Top of Premier (Away team) who have won all the previous 9 games. Everything seemed ok laughing and joking pre match with both teams. Pre match talks all done and game starts. A good few mins in and gave my first...

    Yesterday's Game

Hi Rusty, Tbh my comment of 'History'wasnt as bad as it sounds. I basically said I understand the history of a physical game between them both and looking forward to a fair and honest game. I was kinda rushing this morning when wrote the message. The home manager is a friend and runs the U13s...

    Yesterday's Game

Thanks Paul. I think overall I did a good Job, I did have an Away parent come up to me afterwards and shake my hand saying I Refereed the game brilliantly. despite their team being hammered 12-1 in the end. Do u think ignoring the lad with the insult reporting right? Also still gettin...

    Yesterday's Game

Yesterday I took charge of a U13 game between two very physical teams. I was pre warned by the home manager the day before that saying the away manager was gobby and the players far too physical and gobby also. So this on board I decided to change my pre match chat the the teams, although I'm...

    Some players don't learn....

Interesting, but was Caution the right thing here. Twice he told you to p*** off, and you relaid this to your ref. So isn't/shouldn't it be a Red or was it cause it came from you and not heard by the ref?

    Advice from todays game

Cheers Brian, to he honest I felt great as soon as the first whistle blew. Just a few bits to tweak and much preferred todays than last week's mini soccer. Final exam? I'm sure I took this last year and passed with flying colours when did my refs course. So my understanding is its just a...

    Advice from todays game

Hi folks, Just after some advice if anyone is willing to offer it. I have today completed my 6th game and due to other commitments its taken just over a year to do so. I know my profile said L7, but until my call back tomorrow I am a L9 (mods adjust if needed) Anyway, back to the game...

is 26 to old to become a new ref

Well done Middleman! I have a similar background to yourself with Junior Football. Do you find that Open age is better and easier to officiate?

    Referee Assaults

Absolutely Richard! What parents, players and spectators fail to realise is you look at the game through your eyes. Which isn't always helped by professional refs, as they all have different tolerance levels. Just yesterday a game in league 2 saw a ref not give a foul for ages, or a card...

Thanks for the advice Mike. I love Richards undiplomatic response too. I will remember that for years to come.

    Stinker

Cheers David, All a learning curve I guess. it's a hard balance cause if you blow for every possible tackle, you'd never get started at this age. Arms are always looking up so could give pushes and shoves etc. I had to laugh as he said said he was having a laugh at 5-1 comment. Once I gave...
