At the very least with the introduction of VAR next season they should release audio from VAR decisions like the Dutch FA have done:

It's a binary decision (like offside), clear and obvious doesn't apply. Checking for a possibility of handball as well. Let's just hope they learn from this and have cameras in line with the touchlines in future!

If a player is standing with their arm a little bit away from their body, and someone shoots towards them like in this case, what should they do - a) leave it there, b) try to move it behind their back or c) move it higher?

When does this whole new phase of play begin - once the GK has touched it with their feet, or does the ball need to be kicked 5/10 yards away before it can be picked up?

I think it was more to do with the fact that the kick was sliced - there was an angle behind the goal on Sportscene that showed it more clearly.

Not as windy as Arbroath further up the coast, but still enough to cause the GK to catch the ball after being kicked to him - good decision by the ref. However, shouldn't the position of the IDFK be where it was caught - ie the goal area line, rather than near the edge of the penalty area?

When all 22 players on the pitch think it's a goal? :)
