    Forest-Newcastle

Sorry I don't disagree with you many times Santa; but NO. He was falling and left his leg in, not a penalty for me.

    Teams not turned up

Yes, you have to report to the league. If it was on Full Time, it would show as unplayed. They may have forgotten to advise the league (so fine there) and you could have been assigned another match (unlikely, but possible).

"Blue cards to be introduced for football sin-bins"

With the managers backlash from the Blue card, they should be asked how they can reduce dissent in their team? Any answer would be acceptable. Otherwise, I think the EPL should start giving more YC for dissent to the end of the season. Once they realised if they won't deal with it, the refs...

"Blue cards to be introduced for football sin-bins"

For all the comments, I think the blue card for SPA is a great thing. Too often (in the top level) we have seen teams trying to get the breakaway only for them to be deny by a cynical foul in the final few minutes, resulting in a YC and meaningless free kick. A SPA will now mean effectively...

    1st observed match

You should have realised that all observers / coaches reference matches when they were either at their best or developing, as we are are too old and forgetful to change. 👴

Choosing FA County, need advice! Referee from abroad starting at level 5

Of course, it is the best place....

Can you go from level y1 to level 7 if under 16, and what are the benefits of progression?

No you can't. You remain a Youth referee until your 16th birthday. Also, you are not allowed to officiate at open age matches until you are 16 (per SCOR).

    Port Vale v Portsmouth

I think we are talking at cross purposes. A 10 year ban will effectively stop hi wanting to go to matches anytime in the future. What needs to be added to this is CFA to enforce, so he can't go and watch his kids (if he has any) playing football. Additionally, we should be looking to extend an...

FIFA - previous copies of the LOTG 2024-01-26

We get lots of queries about what the "old laws mentioned". Here is a definitive list of the previous versions of the LOTG for reference purposes.

    Penalty shootouts

The LOTG first included the penalty kicks in their 1971-72 version. No mentions there about the taking of names.

    Level 4 Observations/Merit Tables

At previous course (for what are now L3's), the LOTG test was not on the LOTG but on the league rules. So, always caught a few people out on the number of substitutes, reporting timescales, etc.

Sheff Wed v Coventry - Racism incident

I put this on, as the Coventry's players first response to the referee. We are hearing more about such content at lower levels, and the referees are having to start reporting to the FA.

    Public Bollockings

As an observer, I feel that the sight of isolating the player and speaking with him is more important than the words used. When refereeing, I used phases like "please no more, or I have a real decision to make"; "just be sensible with the challenges", "There was no need for your opinion, I saw...

Sheff Wed v Coventry - Racism incident

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68050252 Again, a failure of the stewarding at Wednesday to spot such disgusting behaviour. As with the Bradley Lowery incident, it has shown the clubs can't police their own stands. The FA need to warn Wednesday that another incident like this (and the...

    Brentford v Forest

Instead of blaming the officials for missing this, the FA should be charging Toney for cheating / bring the game into disrupt. The only way to stop players from cheating is post-match punishments.
