    Juve Vs Galatasary

Agreed. A large part of VAR protocol is aimed at not slowing the game down too much. Reviewing a 2nd caution for upgrade to straight red is slowing the game down for zero reason and a decision as to the severity of it and the respective ban can be made post-match.

    Juve Vs Galatasary

Being pushed on his upper body might make his leg stick out. Being gently pushed on his leg shouldn't. If he lands straight back down there, he doesn't land on his leg. Just my opinion that I wouldn't have been too upset by a second yellow. VAR review was totally unnecessary,

    Juve Vs Galatasary

Because he hasn't ensured he landed safely. Appreciate once he's in the air you could say he's struggling to do anything else, but there's also a reason I've never seen this before and thats that 99% of the time people don't come down how he did. I'm not saying it's a stone wall caution, I'm...

    Juve Vs Galatasary

I'm gonna stand out here and say I'm reasonably comfortable with a second caution. I don't think there was any need to pull it back for a red card as you highlight it and will really split opinion, where as people could live with seeing it cautioned on field as it's clearly a very painful one...

    City v Newcastle

But Newcastle's gripe was that he was allegedly pushed in to the offside position and otherwise would have been onside. That makes all the rest irrelevant because obviously his position is only taken in to account as the ball is kicked, so if the push happened with the ball in play, there is no...

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

I think you're adding 2 and 2 together and coming up with 57,641. End of discussion with the players, no?

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

This is what I mean. The entire difference on both of these is the on field decision and it not being obviously wrong enough for VAR to get involved, but those that bemoan VAR would be no better off without it, as the end result would be exactly as it was.

    Forest v Liverpool

Held tight to the side is irrelevant as he scored immediately following it, so any touch of the ball against the arm becomes a handball offence.
  9. R

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

The people: We hate VAR Also the people: Why can't we have consistency on these 2 similar events where the on field decision was different.

    Tactical Injury Breaks

Sounds like a nightmare to enforce lower down the pyramid

Level 4 to Level 3 Promotion / Assessment Days

Definitely no requirement on AR appointments. I don't believe there is a minimum on middles either, but there is a minimum number of observations, which I think is probably 3. I know of people who've got promoted through assessment day mid-season having only been a 4 from the start of that...

    City v Newcastle

I don't think much will change from it. I think it's probably been happening for a while, but it's been highlighted because Burn scored. I think it's less of a problem than the similar one at the other end where attackers will push back defenders to play everyone onside.

    Hashtag United - "Spin" throw-ins

Even if you think the throw in might be slightly incorrect, it's a very strange hill to choose to die on.

    Problem with Buzzers

I have previously driven to a game getting increasingly worried about a vibrating noise I could hear from the rear of my car, every time I braked. On arrival I realised it was my bag pressing against my buzzer flags and pressing on to the button when I was breaking 🤦‍♂️

    Problem with Buzzers

I whacked a load of electrical tape inside mine trying to separate different parts of the circuit board and they held out last saturday without issue. Hoping for the same again tomorrow

Dutch Referee Blog - Laws of the Game Quiz 2025-2026 #04

Disappointingly I got 0/5. With that said, I couldn't see the clips.

    Wolves v Arsenal

Sorry yes, aware of the signal, but we've been advised not to use said signal at my level. That was what I meant. Also, if I did use the signal I'm pretty sure players would look at me as if to say 'what the bloody hell is he doing?'

    Wolves v Arsenal

I agree. No real defence to have not used it, but I've never used it. I always tell my captains to stop players surrounding me at kick off, and I will tell them to get their players away etc and will caution if surrounded and report etc, but it's just never occurred to me in a match to implement...

    Tactical Injury Breaks

Agree, but then if we know an injury is genuine and are sympathetic with it, we have the ability to manipulate things somewhat and get them on sooner compared with if it isn't genuine. If it's a blanket 'until the next stoppage' then we would lose that.

    Wolves v Arsenal

I think it does largely happen. I don't watch much televised football, but everyone expects it in the games I'm involved in. One of the best law changes of recent years.
