    Fergie At It Again!

A fine won't even be felt, the pockets are that deep - ban him from the club for a year, then he might retire

    FIFA 13 Team.

I'm a wicked CM on FIFA 12 (old skool!) Player/manager too! In real life I was a RB/CB who ended up keeping warm as a sub by running the line, and thought "I can get paid for doing this rather than paying subs to do it" so I took the course and the rest is (ancient) history!

    A potential problem...

Arran's right, you really need to see both goalkeepers from wherever you are, so if there's a fight you can see it! Also the players' kit may be a similar style and fog washes the colours away, so stripes look the same (past experience!)

Cards and how to use them

I don't like showing players the colour of the cards early, just in case I change my mind. I use the wallet with each card either side, easily accessible in shorts pocket. Players know they're in trouble if you get your book out! There is a time and a place for an instant card (usually a red to...

    1st game

Be vary careful with age groups - the 2 year rule is there to protect you, so you won't be intimidated by older players and so you won't be subjected to bullying at school (especially if you award penalties/send off players/disallow goals)

what a difference a break makes

Just so long as it wasn't a leg break in that penalty area!

    Two footed tackle

Once again the "violent" tackle rears it ugly head! You'll know in your stomach if it's a red or only a yellow, and whether your match control and credibility will disappear if you get the colour wrong! GO WITH YOUR GUT, mine's usually right. Player reaction, as long as it's not OTT, is also a...

    Speaking your thoughts

I always do this, even when I'm on the line and winger/full back are going past me "trying to swap shirts" I shout "No fouls, no arms!" and they try and play fairly then.....

    Club Assistants

The problem with CARs doing offsides is, how often have you seen a CAR trying to stay level with the second last defender?

    hello

Make sure you pass, then you can park most of it and concentrate on laws 11 and 12!

    Adriano - Norsjelland v Shakhtar

The team who had the ball originally when play is stopped for an injury should be the team to get the uncontested drop ball, then there wouldn't be any of this "unsportsmanlike behaviour" and no need to rewrite the LOTG so you can't score from a drop ball.

    What boots do you wear?

I've just replaced my Nike screw-ins with a pair of Mizuno for £35. Wore them on Saturday in the rain and they were like slippers, really impressed.

    My question to you...

I've been an assistant referee for the best part of 30 years now, and it takes a lot of games to get the "feel" of when to flag for game-changing decisions or not. From what you've described above, I would have let the referee referee it because he was a lot nearer. The players are expecting him...

    Penalty rebounds

Thats probably the easiest part of the law regarding penalty kicks - try the encroachment stuff and who touches what first!

    Any big games coming up?

This Saturday I'm in the middle at the Moat; Gresley Res v Barwell Res. Always a pleasure to referee at the Moat Ground (let's hope it stops raining soon!)

    Refusing to shake hands

The pre-kickoff handshake is not compulsory because then it would just become routine for players and the benefit it is supposed to give to the game would be lost. If they don't want to shake anybody's hand, don't force them. But I'm pretty sure they won't have much repsect shown to them by the...

Junior/Youth if ball already gone over bar do you bring it back for penalty kick or is it a goal kick

Sell it as reckless, give the penalty, give a YC to defender (to sell it as reckless and not DOGSO) and then pray the penalty goes without encroachment/keeper off line!!
