    RefSix

Yep, the battery is what caused an issue for me. I used to have to bring a power bank and the charging cable to try and charge a bit at half time, or in the event of back to back games (which is all the time) between the games as well. Upgrading the watch at the time meant I could get away with...

When do you start your watch?

To be honest... I have never had a team delay kick off after I've blown the whistle. So, I usually blow the whistle, then start my RefSix, and then my back up watch, so technically will be running a few seconds behind if time is supposed to be based off when the ball is actually kicked.

Australia v Uzbekistan - 2023 AFC Asian Cup

Yes, I had thought I had heard about the supporting arm being removed from the LOTG (haven't refereed in a year due to personal issues), but it's still part of IFAB's Football Rules guidelines website. Obviously the actual LOTG trumps this, but just an observation.

Australia v Uzbekistan - 2023 AFC Asian Cup

Thoughts on the penalty given to Australia here? Even the Australian media are a bit perplexed at Australia being awarded a penalty here. Incident is 1:00 in, and the video in this article shows a bit more of the VAR process / commentary around it Socceroos gifted dubious penalty -...

    referee headbutts player - not!

Yes, but based off how I'm reading the original post, the statements to support the player didn't mention the act the referee was suspended for. At least our match/incident report will have a statement on the actual incident..

    Sin bins

I did that in a game to stave off the need to sin bin. I can't remember what was said, but it was something about me not restarting properly. Or I think a smart arse comment about me needing to count out the distance to the wall on a free kick, while I was counting out the distance to the wall...

    Sin bin for reckless play?

I came from a coaching background before becoming a referee, and it was the little howlers in one particular game that drove me to get qualified and do games. Referee was calling for foul throws when players had the front of their foot over the line, but the rest still on the line.

    Eve v Che

I learnt that from Rob McElhenney!

    Palace Vs Liverpool

These players making these comments are hilarious to me. I didn't watch the game (just a 3 min highlight package that seems to have shown everything I need to know + extra clip of Ayew's first yellow card) and I feel like all the outcomes were correct. Second yellow did look a bit cynical to...

    Sin Bins in Top Flight

Could be Australia too - they did trial VAR first

    Spurs vs Chelsea

Ange always means what he says. As straight shooter as there could ever be. I agree 100% with everything he said in his presser re: VAR/refereeing in general

Struggling with which hand after HT

The times it's happened to me, it's been on clear-cut decisions, so a couple of the players will look at me bewildered, and then I'll swap hands and giggle and say who's throw in, etc.

    Corruption

I've seen a lot of this about authority in a lot of sports. It happens in Rugby League here in Australia, and I've seen similar comments about Formula 1 over the past 3 years (at least). It goes alongside the comments from Ange Postecoglu today re: old school attitude and respect towards referees.

Jewellery - when did it change?

Was going to say, it was definitely there for 2005-06, because I remember this specific instance: (can't find a video quickly unfortunately) https://www.abc.net.au/news/2005-10-24/mori-forced-to-cut-off-wedding-ring/2131636...

    celebrating goals at EFL level

If you're referring to the video I posted, yes. He stuck the finger up at the fans walking behind the goal that were goading him in the lead up to the penalty.

    celebrating goals at EFL level

Was involved in a game where a player was sent off for something along these lines. starts around 1min in (penalty, awarded, scored, then celebrated)

    “He can’t say leave it!”

If you stop play for an offence, and restart with anything other than a dropped ball/goal kick/throw in/corner kick, (in which case you're most likely to not be stopping play for an offence) it's an 'award' No need for semantics here on the 'restart' and etc.

Doms or do I need to see a physio?

    Yoga's not a bad thing. That's a good thing

    Sanction on this bad boy

I thought that was worth a good shout for the lulz. But this is the only mention of them being allowed to enter the field of play: The assistant referee may enter the field of play to help control the 9.15m (10 yards) distance.
