    Misconduct report advice...

Need to write a misconduct report for an SFP red in a friendly. What's best? 1. Short and sweet In the 6th minute of the game xx tackled an opponent in a dangerous manner, using excessive force, so I dismissed him for serious foul play. I was 10 yards from the incident and had a clear and...

Cardiff v Bournemouth - Disallowed Goal

I think the LotG contain some very key guidance that is relevant to this situation: All players have a right to their position on the field of play, being in the way of an opponent is not the same as moving into the way of an opponent. In the absence of "explicit" guidance we need to look for...

Cardiff v Bournemouth - Disallowed Goal

I really think this is a goal. The keeper can take a pace to the left or right and have a free release. If the striker follows him then that's an easy call to disallow the goal, but all he's doing is standing still. I understand the desire to disallow the goal, but I can't see that as a...

Has anyone ever actually been 'Reported?'

I usually tell them who at County they need to talk to if they want to report me, and that they can find the misconduct forms online to fill them out. Ignore it. This is sour grapes. As long as you put your cards in, you referee according lotg for mandatory stuff and you DON'T have a vendetta...

    Praise when deserved?

Club marks will make no difference to promotion at 7 to 6 and 6 to 5. Certainly in Herts if you're getting good assessments then you will get the promotion you deserve! Worry about impressing the assessors, not the clubs!!! I don't think they have an impact on promotion at 5 to 4 either...

    Why do we do it?

I can tell you now that if you don't penalise dissent you won't get promoted 6 to 7 in hertfordshire. If you can't prevent it from being an issue in the first place then you'll struggle to get to 5. Match control is not about ignoring dissent, it's about recognising which frustrated outbursts...

Junior/Youth What decisions did you make this weekend that put a smile on your face?

2 penalties, 3 red cards, one official misconduct, 7 cautions. Had a great time, and absolutely confident that me and my NARs got everything spot on. That's put a smile on my face!!

Abandonment or Final Whistle? (Plus referee assault)

A few thoughts... 1) This is an abandonment. If you havent already blown then it's always an abandonment. If you ever get the chance to blow up before it kicks off then do so, but otherwise go with it as an abandonment. This also helps you out with (rightly and understandably) not having full...

    Roll on roll off subs

Right, I've got a County Cup game with roll-on-roll-off subs. I get that the teams have to name 5 subs, and I get that a player who comes off then becomes a substitute who can come on. One question: am I right in thinking that there is no limit to the number of times a substitution can be...

Junior/Youth What have I become, sending off an 11 year old!

Lol. I am disappointed that you've seen it necessary to quote me out of context to make this point though.

Junior/Youth What have I become, sending off an 11 year old!

I'm speechless. Crack a joke, make fun of him, walk over and give him an absolute roasting. Threaten him you could caution, threaten you could send off. Make him apologise to you. Pretty much anything would be a better way of dealing with this than a red card. You have a real opportunity to...

    An irritation during pitch inspection

It doesn't have to work both ways. I can go with the flow if any players don't want to play, doesn't mean i haven't got the balls to say "no game" if i don't think it's safe.

    'Technical' and 'Dangerous' reds

I don't think he has a appalling attitude to grass roots football. I DO think that he's ****** up in this instance (and I think he knows it!). I'm not a l4 (yet!) but i've been fortunate enough to officiate in fames at that level. I've also done games at a senior county level, junior saturday...

    'Technical' and 'Dangerous' reds

I'm going to disagree with everyone on this thread! B'Stard is wrong to not show the RC when he thinks a DOGSO has occurred. If your opinion as the referee is that a YC or RC offence has occurred then you have to show the necessary card and submit the report. Score and time or friendly nature...

    An irritation during pitch inspection

Few things here... i know that the lotg say, but they do not supercede the criminal or civil laws of the land. You (and all the players) have a duty of care to the participants, and if someone gets injured because of a decision you've made then you could well be liable (your household insurance...

    Mass confrontation

A standard pre-match talk would be that if there's a mass con you want to make sure that between the three of you you get: 1) any reds 2) Yellow for the guys who started it 3) yellow for the guy(s) who run a mile to get involved and escalate it from just two folks who are going head to head.

    Mass confrontation

Nothing else for me. As you describe it there were three reds and you got all three, so that's the biggest job done. One thing: as well as catching the reds it can be useful to yellow either the first person not involved in the foul who piles in, or the bloke who comes from furthest away. A...

    offside?

He's talking about a player who is offside in the opponent's half when the ball is played, but then moves back into his own half to play the ball himself.

    Penalty claim: Newcastle v Southampton

You might be allowed to use your face, but that doesn't mean you won't sustain a serious injury if you use your nose to stop a football travelling at up to 80mph! l think that's pretty easy to understand!
