Triple jeopardy - rule change coming?

I think my interpretation will be if it's a tackle from behind that comes through the legs, there is no possibility of playing the ball. Any other foul tackle that isn't SFP I will class as a genuine attempt. This rule has been criticised for years, and they've finally done something about it...

    Simulation Solutions?

This has to be the best punditry piece I've seen on this issue. Getting tripped doesn't propel you 6 feet in the air and throw your arms up while you do it! And more often than not, the Penalty awarded for a DOGSO foul is a better opportunity than the original foul, especially when you consider...

    Pre-Game Conference

I have refereed in two different systems with CARs. In Warrington, Cheshire the system was as KB said. CARs did whether the ball is out (only down the touch line) and i dealt with directions, offsides and everything else. In Staffordshire where I now live, the CARs do the whole lot with...

    Bizarre injuries

Looks like I'm in good company then! Haha. Yes this was a rather awkward explanation to my refs sec too Jack, and particularly frustrating as I'd just started to be given some good games in the league too! Felt like such a clot having to explain it!

    Bizarre injuries

As do I right now! 8 days on and I still can't bend my knee. Seeing me walking (if you can call it that) around my uni campus is providing laughs to quite a few people at the moment! Haha

    Bizarre injuries

im sure there will be plenty of amusement at this, but I am currently in the 2nd week of an enforced 6 week absence due to a knee injury. Unfortunately, the injury isn't a regular one, as I split it open falling up a flight of stairs and required stitches to heal it (clumsy I know!). Just...

    Getting the ball

I think I would have cautioned him if there was no danger to attacker, say the ball was 2 yards in front of him while he was running with it, 2 yards is a big enough gap that the attacker is not in danger. However, if the attacker has to jump over/out of the way, then I'd be in my pocket, colour...

Has anyone ever had this happen ..?

That's why I added the deliberately part. I think the ref, if he wanted to picky, could have cautioned him twice. But I personally wouldn't have done. I wasn't confident enough that the reason he did it was to deliberately cheat the rules (even though it didn't matter coz he didn't know them!)...

    Getting the ball

I'd be tempted to say yes it was wrong as jumping in 2 footed implies no control and using excessive force, that said, I would probably have managed it the same had it been my game. Law 18 and all that! Haha

Has anyone ever had this happen ..?

Happened on my first line this season. Defender stepped behind the line into the goal (IMO deliberately) leaving just the keeper between attacker and goal-line. Attacker scored and player went mental saying that he was off the pitch and therefore can't play him onside. The ref giving him a quick...

    Promotions - Open Age 'Friendlies'

Just to clarify, do the 20 games that must be done BEFORE applying promotion only count middles, or do open age lines also count? Reason I ask is that I'm in a league with literally 3 x the number of officials as there are games to cover, so every game has 2 ARs assigned, and ill struggle to get...

    Dodgy Club Linesman

Same in Warrington. Really shocked me when I moved to a new region last year and all of a sudden I had CARs throwing flags up left right and centre!

    Match suspended

I had a game last year when I had every season within the 90 minutes. Kicked off in glorious sunshine, after 20 mins or so it was pouring down, then it turned into hail (at which point I has suspend play for 15 mins because neither the players or myself could turn to face the wind without being...

    Red then yellow.

If this had been the case and it was the manager who I had to report for misconduct, I would have dismissed him to behind the rope , as as mentioned, if he is the club' strained first aider, certainly my decision would to be exactly as mentioned above. I agree that in principle he should not be...

    Red then yellow.

The issue here was that it was on a pitch on an open public park so he had a right to be on the park, just not the part of it under my control for that game. Also, he was actually the son of the manager so I could not ask his father to escort him from the area as it would have left the team...

Moving from youth football to Adult...advice?

@Brian Hamilton I agree 100%. I did a line for a OA pre-season game between Evo-Stik league team and ANW Combined league team and i was shocked at the pettiness and childishness of them at that level. "But sir he said....sir, did you hear number 4 called me...." Etc...

    Red then yellow.

Just out of curiosity, I wondered whether it is possible to caution a player for entering the pitch without permission after they've been sent off. To give the context, it was an u16 game between two local rivals, and I sent off the away team captain for violent conduct half way through the 2nd...

    Hello

Haha. Yeah, Uni at keele, but it's the Potteries District League based in stoke. Live in Warrington and ref there out of term time.

Moving from youth football to Adult...advice?

I'm now a 2nd year at keele Uni. Thankfully I got a few BUCS games last year so that was a sort of stepping stone into OA. Got 5 OA appointments before I even start term again (mostly lines though) so the time shouldn't be an issue. I certainly won't be doing 40 games this year, can't afford the...

Moving from youth football to Adult...advice?

The reason I said 2-3 is because I'm combining my refereeing with University study and won't be able to commit to the same number of matches as previous seasons. In 2012/13 I did 57 matches, last season I did 15 (but didn't start until January of the season to be fair). I should be able to get...
