Player goes down and I give him around 20 seconds to see if he can continue, I judge that he needs treatment so I wave the coach/physio on to attend to him.

Coach refuses to come on, I assume hes misheard me so I repeat my instruction that I need him to attend to the player.

In the meantime a team mate comes over and helps the player.

Once hes back on his feet I tell the player that he needs to go off because he's had treatment, que a tirade of abuse from said coach who claims 'a player cant deliver treatment', 'nobody came on the field to treat him so he doesn't have to go off'

It caught me off guard but I kind of blagged it and told him that as soon as I initiate the process then the player is going off regardless of whether they choose to come on the field, que more verbal abuse.

Once a coach refuses to come on the field to help an injured player, where does that leave the player if/when they recover?

Although you say you blagged it, you didn’t - it was appropriate course of action!

This is happening more often at step 6/5. Last week, I waved the physio on after getting no response from a player when I checked on him. As soon as the physio came on, the player started complaining that he didn’t want or ask for treatment. Well, he should’ve said something when I came over. Off you go to the touchline, lad I’ll call you back on when ready.

yep i follow this approach as well - i aint asking multiple times or wasting time/guessing if it's serious

When they don't reply I tell them it they don't tell me I will assume yes. That normally gets the response
