Dangerous to officials?

SM

The avuncular one
did a game today as AR. The line I was on was mangled - the away team had used it to warm up and it was knackered. Surface water for some of it, just deep, thick mud for the rest with mixed in small patches of more traction granting mud in between. I was dancing on and off the pitch to find something to run on. Painful game as I got stuck in the mud a few times wrenching knees and ankles. The pitch itself wasn't too bad and the game played to its natural conclusion. I was hating the game and crabbing was a nightmare.

Made me think though: Is there a point where the ref needs to think, this is dangerous for my assistant, need to stop the game?

Thoughts?

Had similar in the past. Called the ref over for a chat, he then moved us to right backs as it was only a matter of time before I ended up on my Arse

If the line is that bad there's a chance it's dangerous to the players.
But I know sometimes it's bad for the AR but not enough of an issue to the players - that's when I look at running the reverse diagonal. usually it's only the well-worn line that's bad.
