The Ref Stop
I initially thought that he was holding up the corner until he had put his boot back on, but you can see that he is waving for the corner to be taken as soon as he starts to put the boot on, Newcastle presumably just didn't take it because he was too close to the ball. I suspect this is only a story because they took the corner before he was back in position, whereas if the had taken it straight away I'm not sure it would even be discussed.

As an aside, a 5 year old puts their shoes on faster than Djed Spence put his boot back on.

No the corner is for the opposition, its their advantage so play on. I get the 'laces' thing at senior grassroots all the time, but its a can of worms if you allow it to go on, you'll have multiple players on the winning team doing their laces in the 96th minute.

How's he getting away with incorrectly coloured leggings at that level?
Good question. I'm guessing it was allowed as an extension of the top colour of the sock, which obviously is wrong as it should be the bottom colour or the main colour of the shorts (all yellow).

Not entirely sure why anyone needs to wear full leggings anyway tbh, but that's a separate debate.

I can see both sides of the argument on this but I think you're right. Spence knew he was within 10 yards and just casually went about sorting his boot out because the CK couldn't be taken until he moved.
Once he'd stood up, if he'd shown a bit more urgency getting back into his defence position then Spurs might have had more of a case. I understand why they feel aggrieved but sometimes you make your own luck in football.

As a Newcastle supporter, I thought this was very poor refereeing. Poor management of a situation, the likes of which I'd only expect to see at much lower levels. The sort of mistake that cements my view that elite referees aren't much different from their colleagues quite a few leagues below themselves
Nothing else matters other than the fact that CK has allowed himself to be at the centre of a controversy
Forget the player's actions. Take control and prevent being held to account oneself

His team could have been smarter too, stand in front of the corner taker, until he's back in position. :)
