Quick question.

I genuinely thought he'd retired a couple of years back, but I recall seeing him on a TV game a few weeks ago and he's 4th official on the Brighton v Newcastle game tonight.

He did retire didn't he? If so, what's brought him back?

Glad to see he's still around though, always thought he was a decent ref.

He's been injured.

Met him a couple of weeks ago when he ref-ed a Schools national cup semi-final at ours.

He's been working his way back to full fitness

He has had terrible problems with a back injury I believe. Has done 23 games in the Football League so far this season and has now passed his PL fitness test so is back on Select Group.

He didn't referee at all in 2015/16 due to the injury, and his last Premier League game was 24th May 2015. Always been really impressed with him as a referee, so will be a good addition back to the PL especially with the current shortage of SG1 referees.

He's been at Burton a couple of times this season. Good to see him back at the top after injury, yes I am fully aware the Pirelli Stadium isn't very glamorous
