IMO he is by far the best ref currently officiating in this country. Yes he had a nightmare last weekend but it was a big one off. Problem with them comments are that they are mostly from Premier League fans who have never watched a match live in their life and are convinced that every referee in the world is dreadful as at some point or another they have given something against their team.
Love the one comment by a bloke who says 'The standard of officiating is much higher in the Championship'
I'd put that down to the fact that there is not incessant media coverage of insignificant decisions, trying to pick out every mistake all the time. I do not believe for a minute that the level of officiating is a any worse in the Premier League.
