Multiball system

Leeds apparently ‘cheated’ last week against Birmingham by using multiple balls to speed up the game to stop them timewasting (two Birmingham players were booked for timewasting). I was wondering why the multiball system isn’t used in England; surely it’s better for the game and prevents timewasting by the crowd and benches??

The problem with multi-ball is that some clubs abuse it. There's a ready supply of balls when they are losing or drawing, but once they go ahead they mysteriously disappear.

Yeah, that's a fair point, but so can the single ball system, like when the crowd and bench keep hold of it. Both have good and bad points.

Not allowing multi-ball doesn't mean replacement balls can't be used though, it just means the referee has to authorise a replacement one. For example if the crowd keep hold of it, or it gets hoofed over the stands.
