Can't remember an EPL player sent off for OFFINABUS since 2006!!! (Mike Dean was my ****ing hero that day)

I'm really not so sure. If being having "**** off" screamed in your face by Rooney, being called a "cheat" by Tony Adams or being called a "puta" by Costa isn't even a caution then I struggle to believe the above would see a RC
 
Lol when bournemouths goal was disallowed last night (vs Liverpool) the player ran past the ref screaming "you fudging winkler" (you get the idea) caught on camera. Point blank range. Ref looked away. Same every week.

So, with that in mind I am 50-50 whether an EPL ref would send a player off if he actually met the refs dear old mum, pimped her out and then had her brought to pitch side on match day so that he could deficate on her :poop: 50-50 I tells ya.

Okay, that might be too far. :oops:

Graham Poll sent off Duncan Ferguson for calling him a "f****** cheat" in a Carling Cup match back in 2006 as well IIRC.

But I agree, if all officials dismissed for such behaviour it would no longer be a problem.

It all comes down to the fact that referees at this level are more about selling the game to spectators than actually refereeing the match. The idea that people didn't pay money to watch a referee send a player off.

Which is where the biggest problem with this game is - nothing is ever the fault of the players.

No different in the HAL. And it just means that when players are booked for dissent, or heaven forbid, sent for OFFINABUS, it's always ridiculously inconsistent.

And I know our top referees are blatantly ignoring the instructions the rest of us are given - I was once at my local seminar (a few top-flight referees in my association), and one of the coaches from the top level were there, saying we're all expected to crack down on highly visual dissent - you know, flailing arms while whinging about a decision, that sort of thing, and even the professional refs are being told to do this. Murmers of satisfaction all around. That very afternoon the top referees that were in the room refereed a pro game, heaps of that 'highly visual' dissent, didn't bat an eyelid. But the fact that it kept going across multiple games is what proves that the referee coaches/assessors aren't drawing attention to it.

Then of course, I see the exact same thing at the high grassroots levels, too many refs lack the balls to pick up on blatant dissent/abuse. But I blame the assessors.
 
I remember those criticisms in the papers, it's not all about the referee blah blah, backed up by idiot pundits.It's really short sighted though. One month of sendings off and manager whinging and it would be problem fixed. Lack of bottle from the FA and PGMOL.
 
What happens in an EPL game shouldn't affect the way you referee or your match control on a Parks pitch. On that pitch you're in charge and what you say goes.

It doesn't. It affects the way players EXPECT it to be refereed (ie, allowing them to swear at me all day long) and makes my job a lot harder
