Offside - First point of contact

I already posed this conundrum to the IFAB back in 2017. It was in a slightly different scenario (that of a short corner routine where the foot is placed on top of the ball) but the answer was basically that when the foot remains in contact with the ball for an extended period of time, the "first point of contact" provision should not apply.

Here's an extract of my question - (there were actually two questions and even the second one alone was a bit long and rambling).

does the 'first point of contact' only apply to a normal kick or touch on the ball and not to the scenario where the foot is deliberately left in contact with the ball for an extended period of time?
