I suspect the punch may have looked more like a shove with the chest and a swinging bicep from a different angle. Not convinced he caught the face, despite the writhing by blue.

I'll go with the ref, in the absence of a second angle. I accept that it looks awful, though

I feel like an actual punch would have prompted a bigger reaction from the blue team as well. A few players went running towards the referee but a punch I feel like would have had multiple people pile in on the offender

I went back to see the referee’s position which is about 45 degrees different to the camera and straight on at the incident and of contact (if any) on the blue player.
