I took the reply as “we aren’t going to have a game thread for each game, are we?”

I wanted to replicate what’s happening on our US-based forum to organize game threads more easily for the World Cup.

What happens if the first choice VAR damages a tendon when drawing the offside lines on the screen? They are going to need him.

They do have a sh!t load of match officials at the world cup, so they may as well put them to use 😊

It makes absolute sense, these days AR is a very specialist role and you can't have a 4th official who hasn't held a flag for over 20 years going on the line. Plus, as has already been said, they have a shed load of ARs in Qatar so they might as well put them to use rather than be lounging round a pool, even more so as the grounds are all within a few miles of each other.
 
Granted this has been the most controversial and underwhelming build up to a World Cup ever, still has to be the most excitement to a Qatar Vs Equador fixture ever! :D

Wonder what the referee tolerance levels will be. Often in the past, early in the tournament referees have had zero tolerance with a waves of early red cards, some deserved, some a tad harsh and after a few games everything seems to calm down a bit!

Collins has said and told teams there will be low tolerance, but we”ll have to see what actually happens

I can't work out where the offence has occurred. Definitely called for offside I think, given VAR display and IDFK. Not sure if he was offside before the punch, didn't look to be, but would need to go back and clearly watch the replay, only player it could've been I believe
 
Looks like an amazing VAR decision - but the commentators have no idea!

VAR is still a total shambles, the protocol is just dismal. But yes, it was offside. When the GK and attacker challenge, the other attacker's foot is off! Amazing!
