The Persecuted One
You are approached at half time in an u14s game by an away team official and told that one of the home players has been shouting homophobic abuse at them.

Whilst this is taking place, the home CAR comes up and grabs hold of the home team official by the arm to stop him walking away.....a short discussion takes place where the away manager asks the car not to touch him and the CAR responds by threatening to knock him out.....

What action do you take?

Go on then, I'll have a go :)

Three things I think you need to do in relation to this. Firstly, you need to inform the CAR that you will be submitting a misconduct report detailing his aggressive attitude towards the opposition official, including the threat of physical violence. Secondly you need to get that CAR replaced as his on-going involvement in the game is likely to inflame the situation during the second half. And thirdly you need to inform the home officials of the alleged homophobic abuse and the fact that you will be submitting a report about that as well (I know you have a philosophical objection to us getting involved in things we haven't seen but that is in fact what the FA expects of us). And then be very alert during the second half in case more abuse of any kind is in evidence :)

Too many inconsistancies between official / manager / CAR.

You have a home team officials but then grabbed the managers arm - can we straighten out who actually is who please.

And what ages are the CAR / official (as may have a U18 CAR on your line!). come on, youre the stickler for details.....

Home team official is just another way of saying manger or coach......

a ha, right in that case (thus that everyone except the players is over 18):

Was the player administating the obscenitited an active player or a sub on the bench? Idenitfy the purpetraitor, appreciate the concern raised and I'll keep an ear out for anything else and will act accoridngly.

CAR - releived of duties, inform them of, and submit your misconduct report. Leave the vicinity of the field for the rest of the game.

Replace the CAR if possible, if not then have no assistants - either have 2 or none.

Put it in your post match report that you were told of the language and abuse received by the manager, but that you did not hear anything personally (if you didn't).

Keep your lug holes firmly in the "open" position for the second half.

Would you be surprised to know that the referee chose to do none of things?

In fact when told, at the end of the game, that the homophobic comments would be reported to the FA by the club, was at pains to insist that whoever reported made sure to mention that he hadn't heard them as he didn't want to be emailed by the FA asking him questions!

1. Relieve CAR of his duties.
2. Tell the home team coach that you're unable to act upon anything you haven't seen or heard yourself. (True story that Russell ;) ).
3. Recommend a spelling and grammar test for @HRW :D

3 points -

1) if the forum mods had a spell checker (as other forums do) it would help

2) surprised someone of your age can use a computer-ma-bob

3) what's the cure for dyslexia again?

Quite like to know which other forums have a spellchecker. Been around forums for best part of 20 years now and not one forum I've been on had a spell checker mod available

@DanCohen17 *cough* /\ /\ /\ want to borrow my glasses an' all eh?
Why? Have I missed something?

I think what @SM was referring to was a mod-discussion we had where I was ranting about the spelling & grammar (or lack of) on here. HRW, you're by no means the only one and certainly not the worst!

If people do have problems spelling, there's nothing stopping you drafting your reply in Word and C&Ping it over? I only use the site on iPad/iPhone really, so spelling is sorted by that. On the rare occasions I use laptop, I proof-read before sending.

But, back to OP please :)
