Politically Incorrect
Had my first 3 card trick of the season today, just wondered people's thoughts on the second yellow....

Red v Blue. Blue get smashed 5 or 6 nil every week and are yet to get a point on the board, but credit to them they still turn up every week, have a laugh and are improving.

1-1 until the 85th minute, and Blue are well worth the point. Red score 2 in 2 minutes, and I have to say I felt a little sorry for Blue. Ball in the corner with Red trying to run the clock down. Blue defender puts ball out of play, then smashes it 40 yards down the pitch in frustration, as he thinks red seeing the game out is unnecessary.

I call him across to collect his caution and there is resistance on his part, he's walking away. His team mates are shouting various combinations of 'come on Simon, don't be stupid' and his captain steers him over. A bit more attitude from him as he gives me his name 'Ben *****' he says.

Naturally I'm a little confused having heard his team mates calling him Simon. He collects his caution and trots off, with another of his team mates calling him Simon again.

I call him back to double check his name which he insists is correct with a stupid grin on his face. I call the captain across (who I have always had a good relationship with on the pitch in the past) and ask what his name is. He tells me Simon *****.

Player then confirms this is the correct name and name given is team-mates.

I tell him it's cost him another caution, show second yellow and red and send him off. He has no complaints.

Would anybody have dealt with the second in a different way?

EDIT: One point of note - no team sheets in this league - at least not to the ref anyway.

Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Dissent or 'acts in a manner...etc' either one works for the 2nd caution.

That's what I thought. Difficult one as I suppose this is something that will likely only be an issue at the very lower end of the pyramid - anything higher you would expect team sheets to be a mandatory.

Can't find the relevant section in LOTG for 'if player is a knob head and tries to be clever about his name' ;):D

I had the same not so long ago. It can also be deemed as unsporting... Giving his teammates name instead? I'd be pretty annoyed if my teammate done that.

Caution for the initial, second caution for being a ****!

I hope this was the guy who you had in the book before the game :p

No, this is one of his team mates.

Never heard his team mate pipe us afterwards. As they prepared to defend the original throw in one of his team mates said 'what's he done that for, he didn't do anything wrong?' His skipper replied 'he did-he gave Ben's name instead of his own'

Ben never piped up so I assume he wasn't there.

- acts in a manner which shows a lack of respect for the game (P125 LotG)

I'd have told his captain that the player was a **** and I was feeling generous and let him (and his team mates) rip him to bits

Report separately. It's a separately listed offence and in prior experience carries a longer ban than a double lemon
