From now until the new promotion season I'm looking to work on my fitness with a view to applying for my Level 4.

Any training tips, to help me get ready for the fitness test etc.??

I have recently added 800 metre high speed runs to my training. Aim to do it in 3.30 or faster. Rest for 3-4 minutes. Repeat 3 times.

Luckily for me, the block around where I live is 900 metres so been using that. Made a positive difference to my overall fitness.

And cold baths after training and games!
 
Thanks, I'll try that. A friend of mine, also a referee, swears by an ice bath after every game/training session. Might have to give that a go too!!
 
I have always been susceptible to DOMS after running, even with good stretching and refuelling. Since starting the ice cold baths, very little sore muscle soreness.
