due to a knee tweak on Friday nights game I got to watch a local cup game Saturday. Talking to some subs for one team at half time they were telling me about their game the week before and a ref (a good guy I might add) I know and how he handled the game.

"He did this and that and showed yellows for
This and that and then sent someone off"

"You know what he is like, he is always the same. You know he's always the same, just nod and say alright ref and get on with it"

"But he got a few decisions wrong!"

"We all get decisions wrong! One pair of eyes versus 22 of you little (word withheld because it's naughty) who are trying to get away with something!"

Imagine referees making decisions that teams don't like never heard that before, is this a new trend?

A founder member of the Three Amigos taught me a crafty trick.. in a boring game, start giving a few 'surprise' decisions, nothing illegal, just give something by the absolute book, a pen, a foul, anything that spices things up. Give the buggers something to talk about after the match.. Beats a boring draw anytime...
