    Offinabus from physio

Overheard at a supply league game this evening. Physio comes on to treat injured player and proceeds to give the ref a right earful, definitely dissent, clearly including quite a few choice words which were clearly offinabus and I was quite surprised at the torrent of abuse that was flowing at...

Ladies First ladies, second line, first suited and booted

Excited to get the nod for running the line for a ladies match this weekend of what I imagine is a pretty high standard. Just shows, badgering your local RDO can sometimes pay off! :) On a side note, got to dig my suit out on a Sunday for the first time as a referee. Good job i'm exceptionally...

    First line

Doing my first line this Sunday, league cup semi final, not the most glamorous of appointments but I'm excited all the same. Don't want to turn this into a thread that has been seen umpteen times before here, I've had a flick through some of the other 'first assistant' threads and I think I'm...

    FA Cup 3rd Round

Being a big heed fan (Gateshead for those not in the know) i'm delighted with tonight's draw. 1st time in the 3rd round in 60 years and we have West Brom away. Anyone else follow any of the 'minnows' still in the cup this year?

    Lengthy delay

Blues v Greens this morning. Match starts well, competitive spirit but nothing dirty. 3 early goals make it 2-1 to blues. With 13 mins played, free kick awarded to greens close to the edge of blues penalty area. Before it's taken, at the halfway line, green player goes down, obviously...

    AR fixtures

I know I'm only level 9 at the moment (2 games left out of 6) but after reading a few threads on here I'm curious as to how this works, how people end up receiving AR fixtures in higher leagues? Do you declare an interest to the league as an AR or do they simply thumb through the county handbook...

    'Mine! Mine!'

One I thought i'd share from my first open age game the other week. Had a player run up to me in the middle of the game (this bloke is at least 30) as the ball is in play shouting 'Ref, he's shouting "MINE!", you need to book him!'. The game was quite end-to-end and I was chasing the play down...

    Junior/Youth Foul throws...

Reffed an U14 game today, my first time doing that sort of age, previously I've only done primary school level through work. I was surprised at the throw ins and just how poor the kids were at taking them, in terms of not coming from behind the head. I took the gentle approach and tried to coach...

    Open Age First game...

First fixture is this Sunday after completing the basic course today, feeling reasonably confident at the moment but certain that will change by the weekend. Any hints/tips greatly appreciated!

    Hi all

Been reading for a few weeks now, completed the basic course at West Riding FA today and have my first open age game on Sunday. Looking forward to plenty of healthy debate :)
