I sometimes ref in a league with some of these rules.
The players mark the ref and their own supporters while the ref mars the sportmanship of the two teams.
The power play is more designed to stop a huge scoreline racking up. Nobody wants to get hammered .
Equal playing time is great and when my son was playing the equal playing time there were players who developed who might not have had the chance.
The retreat rule is an interesting concept. It was originally looked at that a lot of goals came from Gks not being able to kick the ball from the floor and the better teams just scoring over and over again. I thought when it was introduced it would give gks a chance to develop their kicking from the floor but every single team used it as an excuse to play out from the back. This stopped at the second year of 9 aside.
Never heard of silent touchlines but there are silent weekends.
Never heard of the no slide tackle rule.
Borrowing players to have even numbers. Why not at mini soccer surely it is better for both teams to have a more competitive game rather than a proccession.
Players playing in different positions. Again in the long run good development for every player, maybe not rotating the goalie as it is a bit more specialised. The pass back rule comes into affect at 9 aside.
Blue card rule never heard of it.
Is there a problem with positive coaching? no.
Should coaching at youth levels just be criticism and shouting? No encouragement and positivity should be the order of the day.
As a ref it is easy to ref these games as they are trying to make football with no pressure so kids can enjoy without mouthy parents and coaches. They are also trying to get the kids to respect the refs which in the long run should help us out.
Off the soapbox now!
