I would tend to agree with Russell... unsporting behaviour would be the more serious offence. As the ball still not technically in play, its restarted again by an attacking team, with yellow card shown to the kicker....its one of those situations where you can feel that kicker had only one idea...

Thanks lurker, 1. Yes, Law 12.. kicking a ball at the opponent... its not that unusual, i have seen it many times when its fairly obvious that free kick taker wants to kick at the opponent deliberately... just happened this sunday and i let to retake a kick, however want to investigate it...

Most of the times, i would GK instead of offside. Its little more beneficial from restart of play. Also, at pee match talk and when coaching AR's, i ask them to take extra few seconds before raising flag, to let game continue... seems to work.. my 15yo son, finally, made very good decision last...

Thanks guys.. following the posts and checking the laws again, i think that yellow card would be too harsh in the second instance. First one, however, attacker was trying to prevent quick counter, so SPA could be applied there. Would it be ok to issue a card after half time whistle?

About 40 sec left in first half. Goalkeeper just got possession of the ball and trying to release it for quick counter. He is around edge of penalty area. Opposing player No11 is just outside the penalty area and is clearly trying to prevent GK from releasing the ball. I havent stopped the play...
