Love the Ref's bright yellow socks!! 🤩🤩

Think the last Red Card is quite harsh (don't really know what he sent the player off for!), unless it's commonplace for Argentinian Referees to send players off for it.

Can only assume it's a gesture well known in Argentina.
My feeling is it has to do with bribery, but I am speculating wildly

Yes, it is apparently the symbol for bribery. He didn't see it real time but VAR did and told him to go and have a look, he did and then duly sent him off and abandoned the game.

He was acting like he was doling out money. It was a clear sign showing the belief the referee was paid off.

Looked like a stereo typical South American game - bucket loads of dissent and poor discipline from the players.

Media reporting wasn't the best, several using sensationist headlines to portray a narrative of "World Cup referee losing the plot"

I watched the match. Tello was actually extremely good. Sometimes, players don’t want to play soccer. But the media knows “ref lost the plot” generates clicks and comments.
