Not sure what the problem is here - the shot deflects off Red #4. Notice how none of the Red players are surprised or argue that a corner is given.

Not to mention that Nyberg has been in the Elite category for nearly three years now.
Yeah, I couldn't see the issue here. I guess the focus was on the keeper not saving it, but there's a clear deflection off the defender.

Could I hazard a guess that Nyberg uses his right arm instead of his left arm to signal the corner, and thus closes his body off to his AR? It's certainly something my observers have picked me up on this season (especially when signalling for a goalkick).

As a side note, I was at Wembley on Friday evening and I thought the refereeing performance was quite bizarre for an international match.

This round of international friendlies seem to have been given to next level down from the Elite referees, this was a corner signalled by Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg. 🙈

Is it just me seeing the funny side (and the irony)? This thread now has two examples of not so perfect communication has misdirected some to a different conclusion than what the intent was. 😆

To be clear you are talking about the signal and not the corner decision right?

Absolutely, doesn’t the signal of a corner resemble a ‘club’ official?

Yeah I picked up the issue pretty quickly, it’s a bizarre signal.

Back on to the first yellow card on the Ugarte/Giminez debate, I agree with @one entirely. I actually don’t think the foul is a nailed on yellow at all, and I agree on a second watch that I do think the card is genuinely for Giminez, but yes, it’s terribly communicated
