    red for verbal distraction

I was watching a game and with the score 1-1 with 5 or so minutes to go. Green striker is one on one with keeper with an OGSO. However, as he is about to shoot, blue defender shouts, in my opinion causing him to scuff his shot wide. Ref gives IDFK and yellow. 1)could a penalty have been given...

    Whistle, cards and kit?

My brother was at a game today where the referee did not show up so the both teams just left the ground after the 30 minute guidelines given. Hypothetically if I was there and the League gave me permission to referee, would I be able to do so without a whistle, cards and kit or is there...

    Celtic v Rangers

Apart from the obvious haha. I'm hoping to get a ticket, although I reckon there's as much chance of that happening as me getting appointed to ref the final of the next World Cup.

    Celtic v Rangers

So, Celtic will take in Rangers in the League Cup Semi final towards the end of January next year for the first time in around 3 years. I feel sorry for the refereeing team already - knowing this fixture well, any decision they makes will be extremely scrutinised by the media inside out...

    Sent off in a final

Let's say the final is in a stadium e.g. Hampden or Wembley where the medals are given off the pitch in the actual stands. What is the procedure then?

    Sent off in a final

I know there aren't many finals at this time of the year, but I was wondering, if you sent a player off during the match, is he allowed to collect his medal and celebrate with his team depending after the match? Or does he have to get his medal etc separate?

    Trust Your Instinct

Refsworld have just posted this on Facebook, but for those of you who haven't seen it, I recommend it. Really shows how positioning is key and knowing that you have made the correct call in accordance with the LOTG is what matters - not what the parents of players think.

    Restart by Injured Player

Ref waved player on, then as he went to pick ball up to take throw in, ref and 4th official stopped him from taking it. He was allowed to enter the park before the throw in was taken.

    Restart by Injured Player

Was at the glasgow derby tonight - celtic v Patrick thistle ;) - and a celtic player was injured so had to leave the FOP. The restarting throw in was taken by celtic and then kicked out by thistle. The referee waved the celtic player on, however, he went to take the new throw in but the ref and...

    Unpopular Goalkeeper.

In Scotland you can. Bottom of page 4. http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/SYFAFiles/Constitution&Rules/disciplinary procedures 2009 10.pdf

    Unpopular Goalkeeper.

Did you caution for dissent after the guy tipped the ball over because you have restarted play so cannot retrospectively caution so if they appealed they would probably be successful. Or did you caution before the freekick, in which case I would have allowed the keeper time to return to his...

Is Respect really working and what can be done to improve it?

There isn't realy a national campaign up her as far as I'm aware, it seems to be a league specific thing where teams sign up to certain behaviours. I've stopped reffing for this season for a few reasons but I now open up changing rooms and pitches etc so I watch a lot of games and on Sunday I...

    Player/Manager causing problems

Was at the Celtic v Hamilton game on Sunday and the player manager got a bit Lippy to the 4th official so referee came over and cautioned him which I can understand. Am I right in thinking that the only way he can be removed from the technical area (if necessary) is by being sent off, he cannot...

Drop ball - where to have it

Haha, tell him to look at page 31 of last years LOTG :)
  18. micky2001

Drop ball - where to have it

Ball is dropped where it was when play was stopped unless in the goal area, in which case it is dropped on 6 yard line parallel to where the ball was when play was stopped.

You can get it after the match

Was speaking to a friend who had a pretty tough u14 fixture (there has been history between the teams which ended in multiple sending offs and mass confrontations). Before the match he was doing the admin stuff - team lines and match fee - when the yellow manager said to him that he'd give it...
