There were two offside / not offside decisions that have been "debated" a lot, mainly by Town fans.

The first one was a goal scored by Town that was ruled out. See
. You'll not be surprised to hear that according to Town fans, he was clearly onside!!

The second one was a goal scored by City that was allowed to stand. See
(side view) and
(end view). Once again, you'll not be surprised to hear that according to Town fans, he was miles offside!!

I've tried to explain that neither of these camera angles are ideal to be judging offside but they won't have any of it. I personally think that both are very close and both could be either offside or onside. I certainly DO NOT think that the first one was "clearly onside" and the second was "miles offside".

I'd be interested to hear the honest opinions of some people who aren't utterly blinkered and biased.

First one super, super tight - left back might be playing him but played in real time he looks offside. Either way, FAR from a howler if he's marginally onside/offside. See below just after the pass is played (can't pause it any sooner!)...

Second one again is super tight, but given this is marginally after the cross, on balance I'd say the attacker is onside.

Can't ever convince people who don't want to be!!!

The first is extremely tight. Slowed down to 0.4 seconds to be able to stop it much more closer to release, and i agree the left back may appear to play on. But its a quick split second decision by the assistant and its one that if it went to VAR it would probably take 3-4 minutes.
I do wonder if the other Huddersfield player played on the assistants mind as to whether interfered or got in way of eyeline.

The second one, youve snapped the wrong part where it was last played.
The cross you snapped was then flicked on..
Huddersfield definitely should feel aggrieved as I think he is definitely offside.

In that second image I can definitely see a case that the top part of the defender's arm is very close to the attacker's leg. Impossible to know for sure from that angle.

Thats true, his arm could be. But the assistant would be completely blocked from seeing the arm, which i might add is a non playing part of the body and can not be used to determine offside.
