This is not the verbiage in the book. And the guidance on this and evidence from the EPL and elsewhere is also very different from this.

And “feinting at the end of the run up” has been discussed a lot on here and is a “trigger” for a lot of people including me!

it is at best poorly written. It is fine to stop and restart during the run up. It is only feinting at the ball that becomes an issue. (And I have no idea at all what “where you feel appropriate“ is supposed to mean—if this call is made, it has to be a caution.)
