Jesus Christ does the tap speak to your misses when she gets annoying and all you wanna do is watch the footy and debate on how differently you would officiate a prem match instead of the ref you are watching? I hope so for that kind of money
No issue with someone moving through the ranks wanting better tech, I do wonder though when a new ref (not specifically you) seems to want to run before they can walk... Refereeing is not a game, its a hobby for most, its very serious for a few more. Spending money for monies sake seems silly to me at the start... Learn the craft first!! BTW, I've lots of gadgets.....

The Referee Store
I do wonder why some newer referees seem to want to overspend on un-needed specialist expensive equipment, maybe its a modern thing and only the best will do!!
Refereeing is a hobby and getting the latest kit and equipment is part of the fun of it for me personally.

Each to own, but, surely the time can only be the time !! No matter how much you pay for it or what company makes it, the time can only be.....the time?!!!!!! I am at a loss as to understand how one make/manufacturer can be better equip than the other?
How can one brand tell the time better than the other?!!!!!
or indeed how can one stop watch be better than another?
I got a SPINTSO last season - love it. I pay for convenience.
- 2 timers in sync.
- Clock continues from 45 at HT.
- Vibrations.
- Automatically counts added time.

Overpriced? Yes you could argue that and I may agree.
Better than my £10 casio on my other arm? Absolutely.

Am seriously interested, how does it count added time? If am going to play, 3, then am stopping the game on 48. So how does your watch beat that?
Whats the advantage to 2 timers at once?

I use both a Lorus and a Casio - Lorus’s are cheap, reliable watches just like Casio’s. My wife got me my Lorus for Christmas a couple of years ago, I think she paid about £14 for it from Argos. Works fine, stopwatch, countdown timer etc., rugged, robust, just like my Casio.

(As an aside, earlier in the season I was getting ready to go out and run the line for an evening game. My saw me putting on my second watch (the Lorus!) and said “I thought you were running the line? Why do you need two watches?” She was flabbergasted (I’d like to see impressed, but I’d be lying) that there would be six watches (2 each, for each of 3 officials) timing the game!)

I’ve attached a photo of said Lorus.3F06E617-9260-42CD-B961-92087E9EF473.jpeg

Any watches used together can be synced. No need for calculating added time, I can add on 3 minutes even with my minute brain. Vibrations etc aren't required. All refs are very aware of the time in the last few mins, mainly because everyone's asking you "how long left ref" every 30 seconds in the last 5 mins.

I'm being facetious of course, I like to keep things simple but in no way do i believe that my way or equipment is better than yours or anyone else's. If it works for you and you enjoy it then your way is the best for you and adopting mine would have a negative effect so I'm not pushing my views on you or anyone.

My main concern is that there are alot of level 7s on here who aren't over the hill, washed out former players, they are young refs who are very easily influenced by advertising and the perceived need for the latest expensive gear. In an hour's time in off to ref a pretty poor standard OA football match, where most of the playets under 30 will be in £120 boots because they think it'll make them better players, despite the quality of the boots being rubbish! Save your money and get yourself to Magaluf with your ref money!

Because how are you coming to the 3 mins? I stop my watch and it will start counting how long it has been stopped. Then when we get to 45 I know how many to add. It adds time as you go instead of getting to 45 and deciding. Also, having it resume from 45 after half time makes life so much easier to record times. You like just taking numbers for cautions as it's convenient, right? My Spintso is convenient for anything to do with the duration of the match, for me.

You neglect the best thing about the Spinsto... you never know what time it is because they made a tap on the “a” button (bottom left) daylight saving time! So it gets pressed by clothes and you never know if the time is an hour out! Genius!

Love my Spinsto. Wear it most days but FFS comedy gold design flaw;)

Two cheap watches, fox 40 mini, pencils borrowed from Argos, total blank white paper in a taped together black book and a 2p piece

I guess if it works for you (and anybody else). I still dont see a benefit and indeed from what you type, unless am getting muddled here, if its stopped in, well stoppages and then it adds those stoppages onto 45, your playing too much time
Its like, stopped, so not ticking to 45....and when it gets there you are adding on for the time it was stopped.
Anyways if your happy thats fine

Come on - let us have our toys. I have a spintso because I think it’s cool and pretty useful - I know a Casio would do the job but where’s the fun in that. My bike is also better than I am as a rider - so what. :)

I explained poorly. One timer counts up and doesn't stop (time played). One timer counts down and stops when the watch is stopped (time left). When the watch is stopped, added time counts up.

When time played reaches 45, you just look at added time, there you go, worked out for you, no arbitrary guesses.

That is the worst feature

My overly expensive Garmin Fenix 5 let me down today. Start button didn't work
Fortunately, got my infinitely cheaper Timex Ironman going when the ball went out of play
Had to Google how to power cycle the waste of money
Justifies the wearing of a 2nd watch, as I'd have looked a right clown resorting to a mobile phone

I reffed my last ever charity game with a mobile phone as a watch, I'd ran out of time due to other commitments and all my stuff wasn't in the right bag!! All very low key and came in handy for the before game photos.... Apples just work!!!

Getting the battery changed is also a real challenge.

Can't seem to get it off the flashing battery low display even with 2 new batteries in it!

Whoever changed the battery hasn't done it correctly then. There are clear instructions, worked perfectly for me.

Hmm...

I get the local guy that sells Spinstos to do mine. Took him 5 mins first time, 45 the second. It can go horribly wrong and is very fiddly.

I have changed my own. Twice now. Never had any issues with battery change. But the thing about daylight savings button is true. Although I can usually tell if it's off by an hour so it doesn't bother me.
