I think she was just genuinely knocked off balance and it took her a few strides to fall. Smart players looking for a penalty would make sure they fell inside the area, not 3 yards outside of it.

Given she comes from behind the referee she clearly knows who knocks her over. Pretty sure she thinks she can run past her, Sophie then moves to her right and they collide, and perhaps somewhat worryingly (certainly if I was her manager) the referee has much stronger body strength than the player.
