Unless there are other considerations (e.g. ground conditions, safety etc.), the referee tosses a coin to decide the side the substituted player leave the field of play.

If this is how the final version of the LOTG amendment reads, it is going to be very painful in young games.

In a non refereeing perspective, I though the FA were trying to encourage young footballers to play football from the back? I see this amendment to the LOTG a complete contradiction of that all you’ll get attackers charging through the box the moment a keeper plays it short.
