Tight game turns on a popular flag for GK handball

No surprises refereeing is sometimes a very good idea!Especially when no one will know or understand what you are giving. Minutes after the flag by the AR goes up.

Why cause problems for yourself in situations that nobody on or around the pitch cares about. Unless it is soooo obvious that there is a shout for it. If it's that obvious.... Different story.

"Spirit of the law" time.

Would you allow a moving ball free kick? No - because the law says don't, even when there's no advantage to the team taking the kick. But while a retake annoys everyone, no real harm done.

So why - when the law specifically tells the AR to stand and watch precisely for this offence - should this be ignored? Just to avoid making a controversial but right decision that might impact on the game?
