I'm reffing a youth game this morning and at half time it kicks off on the pitch 25-30 yards away. Looked like 9/10 year olds.

Their game has stopped (couldn't see why) and every red player, bar the keeper, were forcefully throwing conkers at the yellows keeper. The yellow keeper then went to ground.

Parents came flying on and it decended into chaos.

Bizzarely, 10 minutes later, the game resumed (my game had restarted).

Surely this should have been abandoned? I've never seen anything like it in over 30 years.

VC for every on-field red player, bar the keeper?

I would be tempted to give the league an informal ring about what you saw.

All it takes is one parent to complain, and he'll could open. And as you have posted the incident on here, somebody watching may be aware.

I always say "information is power", so the more info the league has they can make the decision.

Daft question maybe, but why was there a ready supply of conkers on a football pitch?

You wouldn't give a red card to every player, especially as once they are down to 6 the game would be abandoned. But I fail to see how the game can be restarted if there were acts of violent conduct by all but one of a team's players. As @lincs22 has said letting the league know what you saw sounds like a sensible approach.

I beleive this was 7-a-side.

The youngish ref (16-18 i think) had a mentor with him so i assume he was being advised.

The conkers were around the FOP (under trees) and were being thrown at the other keeper.

The league were totally unaware and wait to see if the CFA receive anything, i am told.

There's nothing in law to say that you can't give further reds after abandoning the game though, right? If it were 11 a side and I had eight reds to give, I wouldn't let three of them get away without the fine and suspension just because I'd happened to have already sent off five of their teammates!

True. I just think you'd be walking away well before sending off the entire team (bar one).
