Looking forward to finding out what a yellow card looks like in this game.

Jorginho cynically pulls back an attacker, throws his arm to dissent the decision and screams "**** off" directly at the ref from 10 yards away = talking to.

White is beaten on the byline and throws Jones to the floor when he would otherwise be driving into the box = no SPA.

Yeah, those 2 should have seen yellows imo.

Plus I've got them to be booked in my bet builder!

I think Brooks has gone with the 'it's too early' approach

Somehow cups are always seeing fewer cards, but generally, I think he's got the game well under control and isn't falling for some speculative attackers going down by a gust of wind

i like how hes doing at the moment, hes letting the game flow nicely, jorginho should be on a yellow though for dissent

right booking for elliot, but should have been same punishment for odegaard and jorginho

Question answered. You do exactly this but while being Harvey Elliott...

Only need 2 yellows for a suspension in FA Cup though so they probably don't want to cause this
What? There isn’t a mass conspiracy where every PGMOL official wants every team to be booted out of every competition due to illegal funding from foreign officials? Who’d have thought…

Odegaard getting away with more dissent there
I came here to write the same thing.

He gave oodles amount of dissent regarding what he thought was a corner, aimed at the assistant, with words and massive arm throwing.
And then just replicated it with arms waved about again complaining about an obvious holding offence that he committed.
And still no card.

Shouldve been a booking, although I’ve only just started watching, so not sure how much he’s let go
That was 2nd Time he'd given dissent in that manner. But then he booked Elliott for it.

OK, there might have been a couple of dissent cautions missed, although I would argue that Elliot's arm throwing was far more aggressive and pronounced than Jorgino's or Odegaard's. But that aside John Brooks refereed that game absolutely superbly, he's kept it flowing, been very consistent with what contact to give and let go, and really kept a very entertaining game flowing.

No argument with the rest of the game, but I don't think it excuses poor use of cautions and incredibly inconsistent approach to dissent. It's a major failing and the fact he would have been on for a really good game if he'd just got some basic cautions right arguably makes that failing even more disappointing.

RustyRef backs the ref. Big surprise.

Dissent caution given for something I saw four other times in the game (with no action taken). Did Odegaard actually make it through that game without a caution?

Absolutely nail on cautions ignored on the first half (all in the name of game management I'm sure).

Did try and let the game flow but was tricked by Arsenal theatrics on several occasions.

You say superb, I say 5/10.
Opinions and all that.

Is it get on Rusty's back night? 😂

Speaking as an observer, with absolutely no skin in the game, he had an outstanding game in what could have become very difficult to referee. You say 5/10, that means he would never, ever referee again at any senior level, it is basically impossible to get that low a mark. So no, it isn't opinions really. Aside from potential missed dissent, which probably won't affect the mark anyway, what did he get wrong?
