The obvious question is ...... why do you feel you should reject the appointment? 🤔

If you feel ready, accept it.
If not yet ready, what is the issue?
At the age of 16 (in England) you can do open age (I. e. Adult) matches.
As @DavidObs has said already, accepting a fixture should be the norm.
If you think you're not ready after refereeing 60 games, consider carefully what else you believe that you need to ready you.
Let us know how you get on.

Probably need some context offered around why you think you should reject it.
You are now old enough to referee open age football, inc. vets, so it would be good to know what your reservations are?
Do you have anyone, mentor, friend, that can come and watch and help?

My son did his first open aged game aged 16, and now aged 17 is going for his level 4.

His first game was a bit of an experience, but use of the book in the second half settled everything down.

As others have said, if you feel ready, go for it… But…. Please make sure you wear an U18s armband. And remember, you’re in charge, and don’t stand for any dissent.

Funnily enough I coach a 16yo who is refereeing open aged. He's a very young looking lad, but he doesn't want to wear the armband. His logic is that he doesn't want anyone to treat him differently because he's young.

Understand his approach, but the armband is a potential deterrent to abuse as any penalties/sanctions are at least doubled when the referee wears their Under-18 armband. If they don't wear it, the sanctions are not increased, even if the club know that the referee is under 18.

That part seems stupid to me. Though I guess there are proof issues the powers that be dont want to deal with.

OP logs on Tuesday, asks a (somewhat strange) question and hasn't logged on since! 🤔
