Level 4 Referee
Hi,

I’m currently above 73 with my observer scores. I’m ranked 19 overall at the moment. Sorry for not been clued up on this but what position do you need to be in to have a chance of promotion if you are averaging above 73? Thanks in advance.

When you say you're ranked 19 overall, is that in your pool (which I'd imagine it is) or in the country? (Which I don't know how you'd know)

As a level 4, you probably need to be, regardless of your average, in the top 3 or 4 of your pool on the correctly weighted overall merit table (which we only get via email and you can't see on MOAS) to be in with a shout.

With that said, things are now very complicated with the introduction of dual pool referees etc and being observed on different games in different pools.

Promotion from 4 to 3 is not based solely on the average mark or Merit Table position. The website England Football outlines the way in which decisions are made.

Observer ranking only makes up 60% of your merit table position.
Laws of the game 15%
CPD 15%
Club ranking 10%

The FA have moved away from AA/AB and now only look at the top ranked match officials based on above. I would guess depending on numbers needed etc. You'd need to be at least top 5 is to get assessment day but it could be No1 promoted no2 assessment day and nothing else. All depends on what is required. All will be clear tomorrow after lunch time.

Jumping on the back of this - does anyone know when 5-4 candidates will be notified on promotion outcome?
