If a substitute enters the field of play and prevents an obvious goal scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball inside the box. Is this a penalty? And what if rather than handling the ball the sub player kicks the ball to prevent a goal? Would it be an indirect free kick in this...

After the 10 minutes are up, when can a player re-enter field of play after sin bin?

After a player has been sin binned and his 10 minutes are complete, should you wait for the ball to go out of play before calling the player back on or can the player come on whilst the ball is in play?

How do you signal for a substitution?

When the manager shouts "ref I wanna make a change". You'd blow the whistle when the ball is out of play and then linesman will signal using his flag and check the names. But when there is no linesman, how do you guys signal with your hands to make it clear to all the spectators and the rest of...

After a goal kick is taken, but before the ball has left the penalty area, an opponent enters the penalty area and is tackled in a reckless manner.

That was the tricky side to the question. Well done to you for pointing it out straight away. Like you said this year it's not relevant since players can receive inside the area from a goal kick and the ball is in play as soon as it is kicked. So in this case, it would be a yellow and a penalty...

What is the purpose of checking the names of the subs?

Hi Big Cat. Yes, I understand that aspect. I was more asking about how would we as referees know if a team has played all or any of the 11 players on someone else's name. Clearly there is nothing we could do about that, but RobOda has put it nicely as he says :- "Ineligibility matters have...

What is the purpose of checking the names of the subs?

What is the purpose of checking the names of the subs? i.e if a team is going to field an ineligible player, and then that player uses the name of a player which is actually registered nobody is going to know that has happened?

Are we allowed to use vanishing sprays in amateur football?

Hi. I know we are not required to use vanishing sprays (to mark the 10 yd distance) in amateur level football. However, I was wondering if we can still use them if we wanted to? Any suggestions?

At half time. Who’s responsibility is it to take care of the ball?

Lol yeah that really would be a blunder. So as an assessor what do you look out for from the start to the finish?

At half time. Who’s responsibility is it to take care of the ball?

At half time who should take the ball and look after it? Or can you just leave it on the centre spot on its own?

Do you have to signal using particular hands or can you use any hand?

Rob, how did you get so many cautions and reds in 7 games? Which league do you referee? Is it the UFC league? ;p

Do you have to signal using particular hands or can you use any hand?

I was just wondering, when we signal for a goal kick, penalty kick, or offside, is there a particular hand this must be done in or can it be either as long as it's clear?

Recording yellows when it’s Raining heavily

True indeed. That’s exactly what I was just thinking. I should note down all the names for my own record including numbers to help identify who’s who. Shouldn’t take too long. After that not much to write as you said.

Recording yellows when it’s Raining heavily

Hi. How do you guys manage to write down the cards, sin bins, substitutions etc when it’s raining heavily? I mean the team sheet or he match card would probably soak up so much that you won’t be able to bite down anything? So how do you guys manage it?
